Simply spectacular! 100% untouched and undisturbed original condition. Extraordinarily beautiful. Fierce and menacing, with absolutely stunning hand carved figuration and killer paint. All original surfaces. Straight out of a very accomplished individual's summer retreat on famous
Lake Winnipesaukee
in
central New Hampshire,
where it had been hanging on a wall in a personal library and office for many, many years. Estate fresh and never before offered on the open marketplace. For good reason, this
Papua New Guinea, East Sepik River
hand carved and hand painted wood and woven rattan tribal, ceremonial mask was chosen by its owner over possibly many others. The individual who previously owned the mask was said to have traveled extensively, often attending business meetings in Australia and in southeast Asia. This tribal, indigenous mask was displayed prominently in the home and given an important display spot in the library between two windows, protected from light. It remains as it was originally constituted by indigenous hands. Superlative, outstanding paint and hand carved, high-relief, figurative wood sculpture. Wild. Fantastic.
CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall vintage condition.
