    Description

This is an authentic piece of Dayak tribal art from Borneo.  I purchased it from Mark Johnson (of Mark A. Johnson Tribal Art), a leading authority on Dayak material culture.  He estimates it dates to the mid-20th c.
The paddle has a beautiful patina.  It's made from a single piece of carved and turned hardwood.  Original white lime remains in areas to highlight the classic Dayak floral scroll-motif etchings.  The blade is beautifully tapered to a pointed tip;  at the other end, the paddle ends in a T-shaped grip handle made of the same wood.  Both sides of the paddle are similarly carved.
It measures approximately 52" long x 4 7/8" wide x 1" deep.  It is in very good condition overall.
It comes with a custom-made metal wall-hanging bracket, which allows the paddle to be displayed on the wall so it appears to be "floating".  When secured to the wall the outside surface of the paddle is approximately 2" from the wall.
I am moving to a smaller home this year and need to reduce the size of my collection of Indonesian art, which I sourced from leading art dealers from around the world over the past twenty years.
I bought this piece for 0+ and paid another 0 for the custom metal wall-hanging bracket.  The "Buy It Now" price represents an excellent value for an incredible work of authentic Dayak tribal art.
