This listing is for the antique Topeng dance mask pictured above.
This mask is from the centuries-old Topeng tradition in Bali and Java where dramatic dances of stories about kings, princes, heroes, and myths are performed.
This particular mask has no lower jaw and only one bucktooth under its large cylindrical nose.
There is damage consistent with the age and use of the mask. There are some areas of paint loss and chipping as pictured.
The mask measures about 5.5 inches wide.
Old Topeng masks are becoming increasingly difficult to find!
